A Home Gym Designed for a Coastal Retreat
The Brief
A Melbourne-based couple wanted to maintain their fitness routine while spending more time at their holiday home in Byron Bay. Their goal was to recreate their favorite gym setup without compromising on aesthetics.
The husband enjoys indoor cycling, while the wife prefers running on a treadmill. They both use an air rower but dislike its typical look and were concerned about rust due to their homeās coastal location. Their gym setup also includes a full range of dumbbells, kettlebells, and a bench press for strength training.
Beyond fitness, they wanted a space for yoga and meditationāblending seamlessly with the natural surroundings rather than featuring bulky, traditional gym equipment.
The Proposal
1. Strength:Ā PENT. Bystra and Banka barbell set, coupled with the NOHRD bar and weight plates and the NOHRD Squat rack. To complement these, we suggested the PENT. Lova KettlebellsĀ on a horizontal standĀ and PENT. Colmia Dumbbells on a horizontal stand, neatly stored within a built-in mirror shelf in the wall, ensuring both easy access and optimal use of space. We also added 2 PENT. Bankas - one basic and one advance, which offer different heights and allows the couple to do a wide range of exercises.Ā
2. Cardio:Ā For cardio we suggested three top-of-the-line cardio machines. The NOHRD Sprintbok curved manual treadmill that provides a low-impact, efficient running experience, and the NOHRD Bike and NOHRD Water Rower - both of which offer dynamic, full-body workouts. Each machine is carefully selected for its durability and space-saving design.
3. Mobility: The PENT. Mata yoga mats andĀ PENT. Rola form roller, placed neatly on the floor, providing a dedicated area for stretching and mobility exercises. They can meditate or practice yoga here.Ā
